Summary of City Council Minutes 5-4-2006

 

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Bob Schabert in the Courtland Community Center on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 7:00 pm. All council members were present except Greg Schwartz.

 

Voges made a motion to approve the agenda to include the additions of Clean Up Days and Sweeping Highway 14 under new business. Kollmann seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Kollmann made a motion to approve the written minutes of the regular city council meeting held on April 6, 2006. Voges seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Voges made a motion to approve the bills from the month of April 2006. Kollmann seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

W. W. Studtmann addressed the council about the Workman's Compensation insurance policy renewal for the next year. He said that we wouldn't gain much by taking a larger deductible so he suggested that we stay with the $250 deductible per incident.

 

Voges made a motion to stay with $250 deductible per incident for our Workman's Compensation Insurance. Kollmann seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Kollmann made a motion to approve the portion of the project by Hancock to contain the city's watershed up to $14,800.00. Voges seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schabert made a motion to adopt Resolution 06-104 Adopting the Comprehensive Plan. Voges seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

The city council recommends that the community center committee should determine how to handle snow removal around the community center. The city maintenance worker is responsible for plowing the street right-of-way. He is not responsible for shoveling out by the doors or up next to the building for parking.

 

Poehler made a motion not to reimburse the Courtland Community Center fund for the $75 that was paid out to Rick Stolt for snow removal on the weekend of March 18,2006.

 

Kollmann made a motion to renew the liquor licenses for Swany's, the Crow Bar and the Courtland Mart for another year. Poehler seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Voges made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Kollmann seconded the motion. The motion carried with all in favor.
