Summary of Minutes 7-6-2006

 

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Bob Schabert in the Courtland Community Center on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 7:00 pm.  Council members Kollmann, Poehler and Voges were present.  Schwartz was absent.

 

Voges made a motion to approve agenda as presented.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Poehler made a motion to approve the written minutes from the Public Hearing held on June 1, 2006.  Voges seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Kollmann made a motion to approve the written minutes from the regular council meeting held on June 1, 2006.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Poehler made a motion to approve the June bills for payment.  Voges seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Randy Compart, a representative of the fire department approached the city council to request that the city close 3rd S for their annual fireman’s dance on August 19. Kollmann made a motion to approve the fireman dance on August 19 and permission to close Third Street.  Voges seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 Also the fire department would like to obtain a two-day liquor license to sell beer at the dance.  Schabert made a motion to approve a 2-day liquor license for August 19 & 20 on condition that the fireman obtain their own insurance for the event and give a copy of the insurance to the city clerk for the file.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Bob Hinnenthal addressed the council on the issue of the property at 112 Red Shoe Drive and the agreement he had drawn up for the city to sign. The agreement states that the shed on the property that violates setback laws can remain in place, with the contingency that the city and utilities retain rights for utility easement.  If the shed is ever destroyed by fire or natural cause, it cannot be rebuilt in the same position.  In that case, the setback ordinance would apply. Wietecha stated that back several years ago when this issue was brought up the council voted to leave it as a non-conforming use of the property.  Poehler made a motion to approve the agreement for 112 Red Shoe Drive as written.  Kollmann seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.  This agreement will be attached to the abstract for this property.

 

Schabert stated that there is a sample of the web site for the city of Courtland on the computer.  He proposed the project to the council saying that he would like $100 for developing it and a $20 maintenance fee per month.  The address for the web site is as follows: www.courtlandmn.com.  Schabert made a motion to approve the web site for the city.  Voges seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schabert made a motion to approve Resolution 06-107 Valley Point Addition Plat in the City of Courtland.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Poehler made a motion to adjourn.  Voges seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

The meeting closed at 8:55pm.
