4-3-08 Minutes Summary

 

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Bob Schabert in the Courtland Community Center on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 7:00 pm.  All council members were present.

 

Poehler made a motion to approve the amended agenda to include the Metzen pole shed.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Nielsen made a motion to approve the written minutes of the March 6, 2008 regular city council meeting.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve the bills from the month of March for payment.  Kollmann seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve Ordinance 08-#101 pertaining to the sale of intoxicating liquor and 3.2 malt liquor.  Schabert seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Al Poehler and Ron Kollmann shared the proposed plans for the new city hall.  After discussing the plans, the council asked the two to get bids on the project to see if it’s feasible.  After the information is obtained, the council will likely hold an open house to let the residents see what the council is planning.  They stated that the cost has already gone up partially because of the requirements by the state for bathrooms they have had to make the building larger.

 

There was discussion about our municipal insurance being due on April 1 and that the application had not been filled out yet.  The clerk stated that she had not heard from Mike Mans of Community Insurance.  The council stated that we need to know if he is going to take the city on as a client.  To be prepared the council decided to act on the following motions in preparation for the insurance renewal. 

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust as our official insurance agent and to renew our municipality insurance for another year.  Kollmann seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor

 

Schwartz made a motion not to waive the tort limit as it relates to the policy.  Nielsen seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Nielsen made a motion to decline additional insurance on excess liability open meeting law and petroleum.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Nielsen made a motion to adjourn.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

The meeting closed at 9:20 p.m.
