Summary of Minutes

 

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Bob Schabert in the Courtland Community Center on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 7:00pm.  All council members were present.

 

Kollmann made a motion to approve the agenda as written.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve the written minutes from the public hearing held on May 3, 2007.  Nielsen seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve the written minutes from the regular city council meeting held on May 3, 2007.  Nielsen seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve the bills for the month of May 2007.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Mike Boulton stated that the equipment for the emergency response system would be transferred from the old water tower to the new water tower in Nicollet.  It may be several years before we will have to pay our share to replace the old equipment.

 

Joe Duncan, city engineer gave a report on the Zieske Road project.  He stated that the public hearing on the project had been held.  Tonight he brought the plans for approval and authorization of the advertisement for bids on the project.  The advertisements have to be out there for three weeks. It will be published in the local paper and trade publications. The letting of the bids will be held at 2pm on July 11, 2007.

 

Gary Kohn spoke his views on the project, as he was unavailable for the public hearing when it was held.

 

Poehler made a motion to approve Resolution 07-106 directing Bolton & Menk to prepare final plans and specifications.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

The council was given information on a young man requesting permission to sell books in the city of Courtland.  The clerk stated that according to our city code he would need a license.  She wanted the council to rule on whether to issue a license.  Schwartz made a motion to approve the license.  Poehler seconded the motion.  The motion passed on a 4-1 vote.  Nielsen voted no.

 

Schwartz made a motion to approve the annual liquor licenses for Swany’s, The Crow Bar and the Courtland Mart.  Nielsen seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

Schwartz made a motion to adjourn.  Nielsen seconded the motion.  The motion carried with all in favor.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:45.
